GERMANY'S DEVELOPEMENT AND HUMANITARIAN ASSISTANCE TO AFRICA HAS TRIPLED, DESPITE THE ECONOMIC CRISIS IN EUROPE.


The Kenyan President, President Kibaki met with the German Government Developement Minister today in Nairobi to discuss the current crisis of drought and hunger in the neigboring countries, particularly in the war and starvation striken parts of Southern Somalia. Kenya's lead as the currently more stable East African country in regard to the required security and economic stability has been allocated the sum of eighteen million euros ($18,000,000.00 euro) to help combat hunger within its borders and in the neighboring countries that includes Somalia, Uganda, Ethiopia and Southern Sudan. The allocated amount for developement and humanitarian emergency by the German government to the African countries has been increased from thirty three and half million euros ($33.5,000,000.00 euros) to a hundred and eighteen million euros on the annual bases.
