THE ESTIMATED AMOUNT IN DAMAGES WORTH TWO HUNDRED BILLION DOLLARS FAR EXCEEDED THE ACTUAL AMOUNT, IF THE DIRECT IMPACT OF THE NATURAL CATASTROPHE, INSTEAD OF THE INDIRECT IMPACT HAS BEEN CONSIDERED.

The estimated amount in damages worth two hundred billion dollars (USA), due to the natural catastrophe of the Earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan may be regarded as far exceeded the actual amount, if the direct impact of the disaster on Japan and not the indirect impact on the economy has been considered instead. The restriction that has been placed on the Japanese export, particularly on food items, due to radioactive contamination will sooner, or later have a negative impact on the Japanese economy, specially on the aquatic and fish industrial products.
