THE LAMPEDUSA NORTH AFRICAN REFUGEES LEGAL BORDER CROSSING STRAINED RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE EUROPEAN UNION COUNTRIES.

The contention between the European Union governments and the Opposition over farther resettlement of the North African refugees from Lampedusa, the Italian tiny Mediterranean coastal town to various European Union countries became tense as the strained relation between France and Italy, due to the several legal border crossing that have been made by the North African refugees, particularly those from Tunisia from Italy to France on passports and identification papers issued by the Italian government. However, all the North African refugees that have crossed the border to France have been arrested at the entry ports in France, despite the legal documents that have been given to them by the authorities in Italy. Few North African refugees that have made their ways farther north on the Italian documents reached their intended destinations without arrest, or inappropriate scrutiny of their documents at various European Union countries border crossing points and ports.
