THE NILE BASIN SUMMIT HELD IN THE EGYPTIAN CAPITAL CAIRO.
The six African countries convened in the Egyptian capital Cairo in their annual meeting, inspite of the insecurity in the Egyptian's capital, due to the clashes between the former President, or Mubarak's followers and the supporters of the current revolution to discuss the use of the Nile water based on the a greement that had been signed on the usage of the Nile water by the Nile Basin six African countries and to address the dwindling volume of the Nile water attributed to over irrigation up the Nile valley as the Nile heads towards the Mediterranean sea. However, Egypt's concern about future food shortage attributed to water scarcity should include the over use of land for farming and the excessive use of fertilizers in addition to the exponential growth of the population.
