THE INCREASE IN PRICE OF A PACKET OF CIGARETTE MAY HAVE BEEN INTENDED TO ENCOURAGE THE BAN ON CIGARETTE SMOKING, RATHER THAN TO REDUCE THE STATE'S BUDGET DEFICIT.

The increase in price of a packet of cigarette, due to the increase in sale's tax aimed to reduce the budget deficit in the state of Georgia and other states has been contrary to both the current administration policies in regard to tax reduction, rather than tax increase aimed at keeping money in the people's pockets, besides the stimulus packages for the hard working citizens and the claim for the deficit reduction in the state of Georgia and other States.
The increase in price of a packet of cigarette may have ben intended to discourage smoking, or boost the ban on cigarette smoking in many public, private and enter tainment places in the USA.
Regarding the budget deficit , particularly that of the state of Georgia, the State is said to have celebrated budget surplus of about fifty million us dollars $(50,000,000) last year for the first time in many years.
