DAMAGES INFLICTED ON THE NORTH EAST COAST OF THE USA AFTER HURRICANE SANDY MADE LANDFALL EXCEEDED THE ANTICIPATED DAMAGES OF A CATEGORY TWO HURRICANE.
Damages inflicted on the North East Coast of the USA after the projected landfall of hurricane Sandy exceeded the projected landfall and the anticipated damages of a category two hurricane , due to continuous wind gast, blizzard and excessive flooding that have knocked down power lines and caused power outages in most of the North East and particularly in the Atlantic cities of New York, New Jersey and Manhattan. Over two hundred and fifty thousand homes have remained without power in the last fourty eight hours, despite continuous effort for clean up and power restoration in the cities that have sustained minor to extensive damages on the electric power systems. Various types of transportation that entailed the railway, the road and the air transportation have been hit hard and rendered non functional by hurricane Sandy in the last fourty eight hours since landfall. Hundreds of both the domestic and international flights have been cancelled, besides the temporarily suspended lokomotive and automotive vehicles usual commute within the cities, from the cities and to the cities. The damages inflicted on the North East Coast Atlantic cities have been estimated in the sum of tens of millions of dollars and eleven human lives that have been lost in the last fourty eight hours since hurricane Sandy Made landfall on the North East Coast.
